Opportunity overview
UNICEF’s Emergency Preparedness Platform, EPP 3.0, brings together information used by headquarters, regional offices and country offices to plan, monitor and report on emergency preparedness. Following the platform’s global launch, UNICEF is continuing to test new functions, improve existing features and help users work confidently with the system.
The intern will join the Emergency Preparedness team and work closely with platform developers. The assignment combines functional testing, data validation, issue documentation, user support and wider preparedness activities, making it especially relevant to candidates interested in technology for humanitarian operations.
What you will work on
- Test platform functions and new developments to identify bugs, usability problems and unexpected behaviour.
- Validate calculations and information drawn from multiple UNICEF systems, highlighting inconsistencies for follow-up.
- Document issues clearly and help translate user feedback into structured items for the development backlog.
- Support users through guidance, knowledge sharing and practical explanations of platform features.
- Assist the Emergency Preparedness team with related analysis, testing and operational tasks as priorities evolve.
Who should consider applying
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme, or graduated within the previous two years.
- Approximately six months to one year of software testing, quality assurance or data-validation experience; academic projects or internships may count.
- Basic knowledge of testing methods, strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and clear issue-reporting skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English is required. Other UN languages and exposure to integrated systems or issue-tracking tools are assets.
