Opportunity overview
The Emergency Specialist will support UNICEF country offices and the regional office with humanitarian planning, budgeting, information management and reporting across the Middle East and North Africa. The role comes at a period of significant regional pressure and organizational transition, as MENA and Europe and Central Asia regional structures prepare to merge.
The specialist will help maintain high-quality and timely humanitarian strategies, appeals and situation reporting. The position also provides technical support during emergencies, strengthens country-office capacity and helps harmonize planning and reporting processes across the transitioning regional structure.
What you will work on
- Lead or support regional humanitarian planning processes and the development of multi-country and country-level appeals.
- Strengthen humanitarian reporting, information management and the quality of situation reports.
- Support budgeting, performance monitoring and corporate reporting for emergency work.
- Provide technical guidance and capacity strengthening to country offices across the region.
- Contribute to emergency surge support, crisis escalation, regional coordination and harmonization during the office merger.
Who should consider applying
- An advanced degree in social sciences, public administration, anthropology, psychology, international relations or a related discipline.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian programme or project development.
- Proven experience preparing humanitarian appeals and situation reports, with strong analytical writing and coordination skills.
- Fluent English is required. Emergency deployment, MENA or ECA experience, another UN language and organizational-change experience are assets.
